The Olathe Fire Department has an online application process for hazardous materials (HAZMAT) permits. In accordance with the International Fire Code, an operational permit is required to store, transport on site, dispense, use, and/or handle certain amounts of hazardous materials.
- Create an account or login to start the application process. Additional instruction can be found under the “HELP” tab once logged in.
- Once logged in, you will be required to upload the required documents below on the attachments page. Links to both templates and samples are provided within the online application.

- Pay fees online through your application account. Please note applications will not be reviewed until all fees are paid in full.
- Once reviewed, you will be notified via email with instructions on next steps.
Fees and Deadlines:

Your HAZMAT Permit expire one year from the date of issue and must be applied for annually before expiration.

The annual permit fee for both new applications and renewals is $100.

A late fee of $50 will automatically be applied one month after your permit’s expiration date.
