This application is required if you answer yes to any of the following questions:

  • Will your event extend to public property, such as a park, sidewalk, or street?
  • Will you be placing anything on public property, such as a stage, tent, temporary structure, kiosk, or tables and chairs?
  • Will you be cooking or serving food to the public?
  • Will your event be obstructing or redirecting vehicular or pedestrian traffic?

Step 1: Submit this form to start the permit process.

Step 2: Wait for the City to confirm your event date is scheduled.

Step 3: Pay the permit fees. Instructions are provided below.

Step 4: An event review meeting with City staff will be required at a later date.

You need to know:

  • Your event application must be submitted and approved before you advertise, make reservations, or accept registrations.
  • Your permit can be denied regardless of advance advertisements, reservations or registrations.
  • Your event date may not be available due to previously scheduled events and holidays.
  • Your event can be cancelled by City officials due to inclement weather or other emergency situations.
  • A $50 application fee is required.
  • Contact Parks & Recreation at 913-971-8566 to pay. Cash, check, and credit cards are accepted.
  • Additional fees may be required.
  • A Certificate of Insurance listing the City of Olathe as an additional insured is required. 
  • A site map may be required as applicable.
  • A course map may be required as applicable.
  • Contact information for two persons, responsible for the event, will be required.
  • One person, responsible at the event, will be required on site.
  • Alcohol is prohibited on public property. Contact the City Clerk's Office at 913-971-8521 if you have questions.

Event Size: Crowd managers are required when events host 1,000 or more participants.
