Zoning laws regulate the use of land on a property by dictating what uses are permitted and what uses are prohibited. The act of zoning divides land into certain zones such as residential, commercial, industrial or agriculture in which different land uses or activities are allowed. Every parcel of land in the City of Olathe has a zoning designation that establishes the land uses permitted on the property.

The City of Olathe’s Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) includes zoning and subdivision platting regulations, regulates and controls development and use of land to promote public safety, health, and general welfare of the community.

Use the Planning Information Map to determine the zoning of your property and the Planning and Development Map to view project information on pending and recently completed cases. Contact the Planning Division at 913-971-8750 for assistance.
