The Tactical Support Unit (TSU) is a life-saving organization.

Special tactics and equipment are used in high risk incidents to minimize the likelihood of injury to innocent people, police officers, and crime suspects.

The TSU includes 16 officers, six tactical drivers and four sergeants within the Olathe Police Department.

The TSU works closely with the Hostage/Crisis Negotiation Team and the K-9 Unit.

TSU responds to the following situations:

• Armed or Barricaded Suspects
• Hostage Situations
• High Risk Warrant Service
• Dignitary Protection
• Other missions designated by the Chief of Police
