- The Special Operations Group provides technical rescues such as trench, confined space, swift water, breaking and breaching heavy objects, building collapse and more. Olathe rescue technicians are part of a regional initiative including fire departments from:
- Central Jackson County, Missouri
- Kansas City, Missouri
- Kansas City, Kansas
- Olathe, Kansas
- The hazardous materials team handles situations involving chemical leaks, releases or spills
- The explosive ordnance disposal team (bomb squad) renders safe anything explosive or potentially explosive
Every Olathe firefighter is an emergency medical technician or a paramedic to provide basic and advanced life support services for those who are ill or injured. Firefighters also work closely with Johnson County Med-Act to provide timely, emergency medical care in time of need.
The Johnson County Emergency Communications Center provides fire and medical dispatch services throughout Johnson County.
