The 2021 Community Awards have been postponed for the year.
The Olathe Human Relations Commission (OHRC) and the Persons with Disabilities Advisory Board (PDAB) proudly present the City of Olathe Community and Accessible Community Awards.
The awards are designed to celebrate businesses, civic organizations, and individuals who have made significant contributions to enhance human rights, equality, cultural diversity and the pursuit of disability inclusiveness.
The City of Olathe welcomes all nominations, but this year the City is especially interested in nominees whose activities relates to pandemic response.

Award winners are honored at the annual Community Awards Banquet.
- Award winners and nominators will be notified of award recipients before the event date.
- RSVP is required to reserve a seat.
- Guests of award winners and nominators are invited to attend.
Eligibility:
- Persons living and/or working in the City of Olathe are eligible.
- Persons living and/or working elsewhere who have had a positive impact upon or on behalf of disabled citizens of Olathe are also eligible.
- Current members of the Olathe Human Relations Commission, Persons with Disabilities Advisory Board and City staff are not eligible.
- Nominations submitted prior to Friday, August 31, will be considered for a 2021 award.
Awards to be presented include the following:
Olathe Human Relations Commission Chairman’s Award - Nominate Now
Honors an individual who exhibits constructive concern for oppressed people. The recipient of this award is active in community and civic affairs, promotes community and human betterment, and has been involved in at least one activity worthy of human relations recognition.
Olathe Human Relations Commission Humanitarian Award - Nominate Now
Honors an individual or entity who has demonstrated selfless, extraordinary concern for others by leading or supporting positive actions within the Olathe community.
Olathe Human Relations Commission Organization Award - Nominate Now
Honors an Olathe-based board, commission or organization that provides training and outreach activities for the advancement of equality and inclusion. The recipient of this award provides activities and programs which cultivate positive human relations and collaborates with community partners to promote equality and inclusion throughout Olathe.
Olathe Human Relations Commission Educator Award - Nominate Now
Honors an educator who promotes diversity and inclusion throughout the academic system and exemplifies a positive attitude toward improving human relations.
Olathe Human Relations Commission Youth Award - Nominate Now
Honors a youth who is 19-years or younger, attends a public, private or home-based school, a religious institution, or civic organization in Olathe. The recipient of this award demonstrates a valuable impact on their school, church, or organization that promotes good human relations.
Olathe Human Relations Commission Business Person Award - Nominate Now
Honors an individual from the business community who has been active in the community, demonstrated concern for the residents of Olathe and has contributed to the improvement of Olathe through their work as part of a for-profit or non-profit business.
Persons with Disabilities Accessible Community Award - Nominate Now
Honors individuals and/or entities for meritorious service, perseverance or determination in the pursuit of disability inclusiveness. The recipient of this award ensures that people with disabilities can and do live and work within the Olathe community as productive, accomplished and contributing citizens.
