The Mayor of Olathe appoints board members subject to confirmation by the Olathe City Council.

The purpose of the Board of Code Review is to:

• Make recommendations for building, property maintenance, and fire and life safety codes.
• Assist with the evaluation of alternative construction methods.
• Provide interpretations of adopted codes and standards.
• Render decisions to mitigate code provisions that create difficulties in construction and enforcement.

Members serve four years.

Board members are required to have experience from the following professions:

• Master Electrician
• Master Mechanical
• Master Plumber
• Builder/Contractor
• Architect/Engineer
• Member at-large

Meetings are held as needed to hear code appeal cases.
