The Olathe Public Library has a brand new collection of children’s books called Wonderbooks a.k.a. Talking Books. A Wonderbook is a print book with a ready-to-play audiobook inside. Think of a picture book and audiobook all in one. Follow along as the book is read aloud. Perfect for new and reluctant readers!
The collection includes picture books, nonfiction, and Spanish/bilingual titles. Search Olathe Wonderbooks in our catalog to find a full list. Wonderbooks check out for 3 weeks and can be renewed. They can also be placed on hold. The overdue fine is the same as any book, 30 cents a day. But please note, the replacement fee for a lost or damaged Wonderbook is $50, so please treat with care.
The battery in a Wonderbook holds its charge for around 16 hours. The book will automatically turn off after several minutes of inactivity. Wonderbooks can be recharged with a standard Micro USB charger, but you must provide the charger, not included with book.
The Wonderbooks are all shelved together at both Olathe libraries. Just ask at the Children’s Desk where to find them. They are easily identified with a shiny gold Wonderbook sticker on the cover. Check one out the next time you’re at the library. We bet you’ll be back for more.
