Sister of Loretto Eleanor Craig has been archivist and is now historian for the community to which she has belonged for sixty years. In her talk at Mahaffie she will draw on Loretto's archival documents to tell stories of the Sisters' early wagon train trips along the Trail to Santa Fe. She will characterize more than a century of Loretto works in Santa Fe and touch on the "miracle of the staircase" at Our Lady of Light, the girls' academy just a block from Santa Fe's historic Plaza, which Loretto conducted from 1852-1968. Eleanor will pepper these historical accounts with contemporary experiences and observations from her own half-dozen trips along the Santa Fe Trail in the company of teenagers and adults, most recently in 2019. There will be plenty of time for questions, answers and discussion.
