Family Fun Nights - 1860s Fireworks

Enjoy 19th century fireworks at the historic site!

Thanks to support from the Mahaffie Foundation, this event is FREE to attend! 

Parking is available at the Heritage Center and at the Olathe Community Center,. The Knights of Columbus will be in the lots to direct traffic.

Stagecoach rides are $3/person. We're open from 6 to 10 p.m. The theme this week is 1860s Fireworks. *You must be on the grounds to be able to view the fireworks display.*

  • Be in the Mahaffie Parade! We need decorated wagons, strollers, scooters, bicycles! The parade is at 7 p.m., participants line up near the entrance to the grounds about 6:45 p.m.
  • The Olathe Civic Band will perform on the grounds beginning about 7:30 p.m.
  • The Wicked Liars will perform, beginning about 8:30 p.m.
  • Patriotic music begins about 9:15 p.m. 
  • Fireworks begin about 9:30 p.m.
  • Picnics encouraged!
  • BSA Troop #494 will sell concessions:
    • hot dogs, $1.50
    • funnel dogs $2
    • Coke, Coke Zero, bottled water, $1 each
    • funnel cakes, $5
    • fried oreos, $1 each or 3 for $2.50
  • The Questers will sell pie, ice cream, root beer and lemonade
  • 1860s living history such as:
    • visiting the Mahaffie house,
    • Agricultural Heritage Livestock Barn
    • cookstove demonstrations
  • Activities* requiring an extra fee:
    • Stagecoach rides, all ages, $3/person ages 3 & up
    • Making an 'S' Hook in the blacksmith shop, ages 8 & up, $4/hook

You are welcome to bring lawn chairs, blankets and a picnic. Please leave your pets at home.

*Activities and schedule are subject to change.

*Purchase activity tickets in the Heritage Center using cash, check or credit card. Activity tickets are non-refundable but can be used for other Thursday night activities. Each activity ticket is $1.
