MATS: Mahaffie Activities for Today's Students

Mahaffie staff members have been working with the Olathe School District to align these free weekly lessons with Kansas curricular standards. This week the lesson is Farm Animals.Farm Animals

Check back here on September 7 for the link to the Nearpod Lesson OR email kepuls@olatheks.org to have the link emailed to you each week.

The optional field trip opportunity is offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mahaffie's historic grounds with activities aligned to the weekly Nearpod lesson to help students answer the question: Why do we care for animals?

Admission for students is $5. One adult will be admitted free with each paid student. The adults admitted free may choose to pay $2 for a stagecoach ride. Additional adults are $5. Children ages four and under are free. Picnics are encouraged!

*Drop-ins are welcome, but prior registration is appreciated! Registering ahead helps us plan for staffing needs.

**Per executive order no. 20-52, Mahaffie will require masks to be worn when visiting.

Teachers: As you adapt the Nearpod to meet your classroom needs, consider Standard 4 (continuity and change) and Standard 5 (relationships).

Parents: Some of the sources in this Nearpod lesson are from the 1800s and use words that are unfamiliar to young readers. We encourage you to explore the Nearpod together. Don’t forget to hit the audio button at the bottom of many screens-this audio helps tie the lesson together.

We welcome your feedback here or in an email to kepuls@olatheks.org. Thank you!
